Drought Prompts New Limits

05.15 CADrought

By now you’ve all heard about the new laws in effect limiting the amount of water a person or property can use. What you may not have thought about is just how this will affect you and your customers.

To start, the state of California has placed a ban of building new homes that do not meet new, strict
water-efficiency standards. Beyond that, there is a limit on water usage by all homeowners who must
reduce their usage by 25%.

With that said, it’s not all bad news. When it comes to home building and large-scale developments,
landscaping is key. Drought-resistant plants must be used in conjunction with  recycled irrigation water.

These new mandates pair with the strict plumbing codes. All homes must have low-flow toilets, faucets, and showers. Also, the state is currently looking at offering a rebate program for homeowners who
replace older water fixtures.

When we hear any definitive news on that program, we will share it on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MeeksWestern.
