Summer is here and already it’s proving to be a warm one! OSHA is reminding employers and employees to make sure they are prepared for the heat.
In extreme heat, workers can experience a myriad of symptoms including headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, plus escalated symptoms of fainting, seizures, and in some cases even death. It is essential that you are prepared!
According to OSHA, the following steps must be taken to ensure the safety of everyone involved:
- Train employees on heat illness prevention
- Always have ample amounts of cold water
- Urge workers to drink at least 1 quart of water per hour
There are many other precautions to take to prevent any heat related injuries. For more information, please visit http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/heatstress/.
